Lipedema Coverage Connection

Lipedema Coverage Connection (LCC) is a national advocacy organization helping women with lipedema access insurance-covered surgery. Lipedema is a painful, progressive fat disorder that cannot be treated with diet or exercise, and surgery is often medically necessary. Even when insurers have coverage policies, patients face denials, delays, and confusion. LCC guides members through preauthorization and appeals to ensure policies are applied correctly and financial risk is minimized.

We also support obesity medicine practitioners by clarifying the distinction between obesity and lipedema, strengthening documentation for medical necessity, and reducing administrative burden. We provide current insurance coverage criteria, clinical note templates, and a regional listing of safe, effective, and insurance-friendly plastic surgeons—so patients and providers can pursue appropriate, covered care with confidence.
